Whether you want to plan an adrenaline-fuelled family holiday or you’re a couple wanting some inspiration for an exciting day out, there’s something for everyone to experience.

From zip-lining or Segwaying across open woodland to coasteering and ghyll scrambling through fresh wild waters, there are endless adventures to be had so here at Parkdean Resorts we’ve unearthed some of the greatest thrill-seeking activities around our holiday parks.

Water Adventures

From rivers and lakes to vast open seas, there are plenty of waters in the UK that are perfect for adventure activities. Whether you fancy scuba diving, ghyll scrambling or kayaking, you’ll find somewhere in Britain to do it.

Just 50 minutes from Limefitt Holiday Park you’ll find the Keswick Adventure Centre who’s most popular activity is ghyll scrambling. This fantastic outdoor activity provides the ultimate rush, challenging you to an adventure climbing up through waterfalls, rock traverses and other obstacles, before jumping into plunge pools.

This is the perfect family activity to experience amongst the beauty of the Lake District. Don’t worry if you’re a complete beginner, you’ll be accompanied by a friendly guide to help keep you all safe and guarantee that it will be an experience to remember.

If you fancy having a go at scuba diving, then a trip to Lundy Island off the coast of Devon is a must. Just 30 minutes from Ruda Holiday Park, you’ll find Obsession Boat Charters, who will take you out for a diving experience you’ll never forget.

You might struggle to believe that you’ve not travelled to the Mediterranean as this island boasts picturesque views and crystal clear waters. It has been named as one of the best places in the UK to scuba dive with numerous diving points and wrecks, so there’s plenty of fascinating things to discover during your dive. Don’t forget to also enjoy the journey on the way to the diving spot, looking out for dolphins and seals, before getting into the water to explore the colourful coral and an array of fish.

A great way to explore some of the UK’s most amazing locations is from the unique perspective of a canoe or kayak. A family activity holiday favourite, the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall is undeniably an area of stunning natural beauty and just a seven-minute drive from Lizard Point Holiday Park you’ll find Lizard Adventure. If you’re looking for a family activity filled with fun you’ll be in safe hands with Lizard Adventure who have over 30 years of experience in the outdoor adventure industry.

Choose from a selection of activities including coasteering, rock climbing and sea kayaking against a backdrop of Cornwall’s amazing emerald sea, secluded coves and white sandy beaches. Lizard Adventure also prides themselves on ensuring that you experience the best of nature sustainably without having a damaging impact upon it. Sea kayaking is one of their most popular activities and it’s easy to see why. It is the perfect family adventure holiday activity navigating your way through the magnificent Cornish coastline.

Land Adventures

If you’re not a fan of the water, then there are plenty of activities you can do on land. Whether you fancy paintballing, assault courses, zip wires or climbing, Britain is the place to do it.

Go Ape

Go Ape is one of the most popular adventure days out for families. With 31 sites across the UK, including Dalby Forest, 40 minutes from Cayton Bay Holiday Park, and Matfen, under an hour from most of our holiday parks in Northumberland and County Durham, you’re never too far from a Go Ape site.

Climb high up into the trees on the Tree Top Adventure, and take on the high ropes, crossings and tunnels. Once back on the ground, you can enjoy a ride on the Segways, whilst taking in the surrounding forest views.

If you fancy a ride on a zip wire, then a trip to Wales is a must. Just 40 minutes from Ty Mawr Holiday Park is Zip World Penrhyn Quarry home to Velocity 2 which is the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. At an eye-watering 500ft high you’ll have the opportunity to fly through the air surrounded by some stunning views of the Welsh coastline. If you’re over the age of 10, then you can try out this exhilarating activity, and take in some of North Wales’ most breath-taking landscapes.

After you’ve got your heart racing on the zip wire, you can head to the Quarry Karts situated in the shadow of the zipline, this is the UK’s only mountain kart adventure and offers amazing views of Snowdonia.

Bear Grylls Survival Academy

A new addition to a selection of our holiday parks in 2019, Bear Grylls Survival Academy is a series of exciting activities that teaches the little ones how to survive out in the wild. With the academy designed by Bear Grylls himself and the instructors trained by him, participants will go on an adventure learning authentic survival skills like camouflage, navigation and filtering dirty water.

This is the perfect activity to add to your family’s adventure holiday itinerary and gives a fun introduction to the great outdoors for kids.

Mountain biking is a great summer activity to get stuck into and there are plenty of thrilling trails in the UK to explore. If you’re holidaying in Wales, then you’re never too far from a fantastic route. About an hour from Trecco Bay Holiday Park is the heart of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, where you’ll find plenty of mountain bike trails. From mountains and rugged hills to canal paths and charming villages, there are many different tracks that are suitable for all ages.
