With fantastic forests, beautiful beaches and incredible waters that are just waiting to be explored, Britain is the perfect place for an adventure holiday. Whether you’re an adrenaline-fuelled family or a couple wanting an exciting day out, there’s something for everyone in the UK.

From zip lining or Segwaying across open woodland to coasteering and ghyll scrambling through wild waters, there are endless adventures to be had in Britain. Here at Parkdean Resorts, we’ve unearthed some of the greatest thrill-seeking activities around our holiday parks.

Water Adventures

From rivers and lakes to vast open seas, there are plenty of waters in the UK that are perfect for adventure activities. Whether you fancy snorkelling, scuba diving, white water rafting or coasteering, you’ll find somewhere in Britain to do it.

If ghyll scrambling, rafting, canoeing or water rollerz are your thing, then head to the Lake District to Keswick Adventure Centre, where all of these activities are available. Just 50 minutes from Limefitt Holiday Park, the centre’s most popular activity is ghyll scrambling. Make your way through waterfalls, rock traverses and other obstacles, before jumping into plunge pools.

If you fancy scuba diving, then a trip to Devon is a must. Just 30 minutes from Ruda Holiday Park, you’ll find Obsession Boat Charters, who will take you out to Lundy Island for a diving experience you’ll never forget. Enjoy the journey to the diving spot, looking out for dolphins and seals along the way, before getting into the water to explore the colourful coral and an array of fish.

Land Adventures

If you’re not a fan of the water, then there are plenty of activities you can do on land. Whether you fancy paintballing, assault courses, zip wires or climbing, Britain is the place to do it.

Go Ape is one of the most popular adventure days out for families. With 31 sites across the UK, including Dalby Forest, 40 minutes from Cayton Bay Holiday Park, and Matfen, under an hour from most of our holiday parks in Northumberland and County Durham, you’re never too far from a Go Ape site. Climb high up into the trees on the Tree Top Adventure, and take on the high ropes, crossings and tunnels. Once back on the ground, you can enjoy a ride on the Segways, whilst taking in the surrounding forest views.

If you fancy a ride on a zip wire, then a trip to Wales is a must. Just 40 minutes from Ty Mawr Holiday Park is Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, home to Zip World Velocity, the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. If you’re over the age of 10, then you can try out this exhilarating activity, whilst taking in some of North Wales’ most breathtaking views.

A great family activity is paintballing, and if you’re staying at Vauxhall Holiday Park, then you’re just 40 minutes from a fantastic paintballing location. Combat Paintball offer a range of sessions, from fast-paced games to low impact competitions for ages 8 and above. Once you’ve finished paintballing, take part in laser tag combat, 3D archery or head to the air rifle range for hours of fun.
