Amazing views, long stretches of sand, and the smell of the fresh sea air all come together to make the perfect combination for a romantic UK getaway with a loved one. What better way to spend some quality time together than by strolling hand in hand along one of Britain’s many beautiful coastlines.

From Berwick-upon-Tweed to Robin Hood’s Bay, the UK is home to many coastal towns which have activities suitable for every kind of couple. Whether you want a relaxing, romantic break away, or you want an action-packed holiday, here are some of our favourite romantic coastal destinations.

Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland

Located in North Northumberland and just a few miles from the Scottish Border is Berwick-upon-Tweed. This beautiful coastal town has four stunning beaches, riverside walks, and historical buildings - making it the perfect place to relax on a romantic break away.

Whilst strolling along the River Tweed, you can take in some of the remarkable views, including the iconic Royal Border Bridge, which is widely regarded as one of the finest bridges in the world. On your walk, you’ll also be able to see the medieval remains of Berwick Castle, which was founded in the 12th century.

If you’re not into walking then don’t worry, Berwick has plenty of annual film, music, book, seaside, food, and beer festivals throughout the year, so make sure you take a look before your trip.

Berwick-upon-Tweed has its own railway station and is also close to the A1, making it an easy to reach destination. It’s only 15 minutes away from Eyemouth Holiday Park, so there’s no reason not to visit the town on your next romantic getaway with Parkdean Resorts.

Robin Hood’s Bay, Yorkshire

If it’s a secluded break away that you’re wanting, then Robin Hood’s Bay is the perfect destination for it. This romantic fishing village, nestled on the North Yorkshire Coast between Whitby and Scarborough, is renowned for its history and character - setting the idyllic scene for a romantic holiday.

Whether you want to get lost together down the maze-like streets, or take each other’s hand on the Robin Hood’s Bay Ghost Walk, you’ll never be stuck for something to do.

Cayton Bay Holiday Park is just over half an hour away from Robin Hood’s Bay, and even the drive to this romantic town will be scenic. When driving from Cayton Bay Holiday Park, you can pass through the historic seaside town of Scarborough, and also stop off at the cliffs of Ravenscar, where the cliff top views will take your breath away.

Southwold, Suffolk

Only 20 minutes from Kessingland Beach Holiday Park, Southwold in Suffolk is the perfect place to take a romantic trip away. This isn’t like some of the English seaside resorts you see today. There are no arcades or amusements, no fun fairs or candy floss, just traditional seaside beauty.

What better way to spend time together than by exploring the beautiful beach, taking in the views of the multi-coloured beach huts and walking along the 810-foot pier? After taking a stroll along the beach, you can head to one of Southwold’s traditional pubs and restaurants for a romantic candlelit dinner.

There’s plenty more to do in this small coastal town too, including visiting the lighthouse which was built in 1890, or taking a trip to the lifeboat museum. If you fancy something a little bit different, you can even visit the popular Adnams Brewery Tour - where you can step behind the scenes and discover how award-winning beers and spirits are made. You can now even get creative and make your very own gin!

Aberystwyth, Wales

If you're a couple who like more of a vibrant and lively environment but want to get away together, then Aberystwyth in Wales in the ideal place. This beautiful tourist destination is nestled between two beaches and three hills, but it isn't like the traditional seaside town you’d expect.

Aberystwyth is popular for its live music scene, as well as homing two cinemas, golf courses, and a wide range of bars and restaurants. However, if you take a stroll to the top of the cliffs over this historic market-town, you can take a break from the activities and enjoy the stunning panoramic views over Cardigan Bay.

If you’re visiting Brynowen Holiday Park, this beautiful holiday resort is only 20 minutes away and is definitely worth a visit.
