With spring now in full swing, there’s no better way to spend quality time with your family, than by visiting one of Britain’s fantastic farm attractions. Farm parks allow you to meet, feed and pet some of your farmyard favourites, whilst learning some fun facts along the way.

From cute and cuddly animals to fairgrounds and adventure play areas, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy on a day out at the farm. With indoor and outdoor activities for every age, there’s fun to be had whatever the weather.

Here at Parkdean Resorts, we’ve put together a list of the best farming family days out, that are guaranteed to put a spring in your step.

Pennywell Farm, Devon

On a visit to Pennywell Farm in Devon there’s something for everyone. Alongside adorable farm animals, you’ll find adventure play areas, exciting rides, games and events, making it the perfect day out for the entire family.

Get close to a whole variety of friendly animals including goats, ponies, donkeys, lambs, tortoises, alpacas and more. Don’t forget to look out for Fusilier the Shire horse, the farm’s gentle giant, and visit the Cosy Pets Area, where you can snuggle up with lovable rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, chicks and ducklings. No visit to Pennywell Farm is complete without a cuddle from the miniature pigs, who have made the Devonshire farm so famous.

With plenty of activities, there’s always something to do on a visit. You can even become a farmer for the day, by collecting freshly laid eggs, bottle feeding baby lambs and milking goats. Don’t miss the daily pig race, where you can cheer on your favourite miniature pig as they charge around the course.

Nestled in the beautiful Devon countryside, and only 30 minutes away from Torquay Holiday Park, you’re sure to have a fun day at the farm with all the family.

Whitehouse Farm, Northumberland

Set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, under 30 minutes from Sandy Bay Holiday Park, this exciting farm attraction allows you to see, feed and hold lots of different animals.

From bearded dragons to Shetland ponies, there’s a whole variety of animals to meet on a visit to Whitehouse Farm. Discover the reptiles and minibeasts, and see snakes, tarantulas and other creepy crawlies. You can even hold some of these if you dare! You’ll also find some exotic creatures you perhaps wouldn’t expect to meet on a visit to Northumberland, including meerkats, wallabies and marmoset monkeys. Pick up a bag of food and feed some of the animals as you explore this amazing farm, where you will learn all about these different types of animals.

As well as meeting the animals, there’s lots of exciting activities to enjoy. Explore the adventure play area, soft play den and tractor rides, indoor racing cars, trampolines, bouncy castles, a maze and the Donut Dash slide. With an exciting programme of events throughout the year, you’re sure to find plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Rare Breeds Centre, Kent

Set in over 100 acres of beautiful countryside, there’s so much to discover at the Rare Breeds Centre, which is just 30 minutes from Romney Sands Holiday Park.

The Rare Breeds Centre is the only one of its type in Kent, and is home to a whole variety of rare and native breeds of farm animals. The farm works hard to secure the future of these special animals, and gives visitors the unique opportunity to see different types of farmyard friends. Meet a whole variety of cows, pigs, sheep, poultry and goats, and cuddle up to friendly hamsters, new-born chicks and rabbits in the Children’s Barn.

Wander through the butterfly tunnel, a tropical haven filled with a huge variety of different types of butterflies. Here, you can learn all about the conservation work carried out to protect them. There’s also the spectacular birds of prey to see too, with regular displays from falcons, hawks and owls.

As well as animals to discover, there’s lots of other fun to be had on a trip to the farm. Visit the discovery garden, play parks, indoor soft play barn and adventure trail, and explore the beautiful surroundings on a variety of paths through Rainbow Wood, which is a fantastic habitat for animals and birds.

Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Wales

Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is so much more than a farm. Here, you’ll get the chance to meet over 750 different animals, and there’s plenty of other fun-packed family activities to enjoy too.

At the Farm, you’ll find almost every farmyard animal you can think of. See various breeds of goats, horses, donkeys, sheep, deer, llamas, alpacas and more. There are also lots of cute pigs to visit at Percy’s Piggery, so hop on over to Cwtch Corner to see these adorable animals.

However, it’s not just farmyard friends you can meet at Folly Farm. Over in the zoo, you can see over 90 different species including lions, giraffes, rhinos and meerkats. There’s also ostriches, camels, lemurs, snakes, bats and zebras to see, and regular feeding demonstrations and zoo talks mean you’ll learn lots about these animals and how they’re cared for.

Only 30 minutes from Pendine Sands Holiday Park, there’s also a fairground, nine adventure play areas, go-karts, magic shows, diggers to play on and a farmyard tractor train, making it the perfect family day out.
