Holiday Home Running Costs
If you’ve always dreamed of owning a holiday home and living a life with more freedom, fun and family time, then you’re bound to be excited when you finally find your perfect lodge or caravan. There are a few things you need to consider when planning your new lifestyle, however, like the cost of utilities, insurance and static caravan pitch fees.
We’ve highlighted some of the costs you can expect to pay below. Many of these vary by location and the holiday home you choose, so we’ll give you a more detailed breakdown when you visit the park.
Remember, you may be able to offset some of these running costs by using our Letting Scheme, the details of which can be found here.

Insurance
Just like with any large important purchase, you’ll need insurance to protect your holiday home.
All of our owners are required to take out an annual policy to ensure they’re covered against risks such as fire, flood, and theft, and are protected from public and property owners’ liability.
In partnership with insurance broker Gallagher, we offer a range of comprehensive insurance packages. Depending upon your holiday home’s age and size and the level of cover you require, your 2020 annual premium could range from £117 to £475.
If you’d rather arrange insurance cover elsewhere, it will need to meet the minimum requirements detailed in your pitch licence agreement. We’ll also need a copy of your cover as proof that you’re insured.
Electricity & Gas
Your electricity costs are based on usage and the readings taken from your holiday home’s meter. The rate is identical to the amount we pay for the park’s electricity and the payment is made to us directly.
If your holiday home uses bottled gas, you can buy replacements at the park. It’s the same set price across all of our parks, but the cost does vary by bottle size. You can also choose to buy bottles elsewhere, but you’ll need to follow the rules detailed in your pitch licence agreement.
Piped gas is charged at the supplier’s recommended retail price and is based upon meter readings or the average consumption of the holiday homes that share a supply tank.
Rates, Water & Drainage
The rates, sewerage and drainage costs you pay will depend upon the park you choose. The amount is influenced by the park’s size, facilities, and location and can range between £340 and £1,500 per year.
