Passionate people, creating amazing memories.
“I enjoy what I do, leading teams, bringing people on a journey with me and developing people. I love being a part of something that will continue to be special and get bigger and better.”
Luke Ryan, Complex Manager.
Luke Ryan, recently transferred Complex Manager at Warmwell Holiday Park, may have only joined the Parkdean Resorts family in February this year, but his passion for the industry and determination to build and develop his team has certainly contributed to his success here so far. Luke hasn’t always worked in the hospitality industry, beginning his career in retail at Sainsbury’s where he worked for a few years before completing a degree in business. It was only some years later that he first experienced working in a UK holiday park, and quickly fell in love with what he refers to as “the buzz.”
Outside of work hours Luke leads a busy and fulfilled life, spending most of his spare time with his other half (a Sous Chef also at Parkdean Resorts), and there adorable Beagle puppy, Bramble. When he isn’t out and about in the great outdoors kayaking, paddle boarding or taking Bramble out for walks, he is spending time with friends and family, eating out or watching a great game of football.
In work, Luke embraces the challenge of holiday park life in much the same way as he embraces his love for the outdoors. He says, “Every day is different, there’s so many different kinds of people that you come across whether that is in the teams you work with, the parks that you work at, or different leadership styles you come across. It’s developed me, because I always have to be thinking about the people I’m leading and everyone is different.”
When discussing hospitality and why it’s such a great industry to work in, Luke states that “people are there to have a good time, so you can enjoy the guests that are there around you. The opportunity to have a laugh with guests, enjoy their company and provide them with an experience we’re proud of keeps me in the industry.” Having worked in holiday parks now for just shy of 8 years, you could say the role as Complex Manager comes naturally. Beginning his Parkdean Resorts journey at West Bay Holiday Park in February, Luke has also spent time at Challaborough and later, Warmwell, as a support in busy peak periods.
Today, Luke has been transferred permanently to Warmwell Holiday Park, one of our seven ‘Parks of the Future’ that has had a major upgrade for 2021, with fantastic new facilities and a range of exciting new activities to enjoy, plus stunning new luxury lodges. For Luke, Warmwell represents a huge opportunity and a bigger challenge. “With the park being a bigger operation and a Springboard, I can really get stuck into Warmwell, build the team and incentivise them – really showcase what this park has to offer and drive it forward further.”
When talking about what makes Parkdean Resorts different, Luke states that “the people are warm and welcoming, and people at senior levels really embrace the team. Parkdean Resorts is industry leading in their development and investment and it’s great to be a part of that vision.”
We can’t wait to see what Luke does in his new role at Warmwell Holiday Park!
