Shannon Trigg, former Complex Manager at White Cross Bay, is excited to be the very first person at Parkdean Resorts to be selected for the new 12-month Designate General Manager development journey, Be the Lead. The programme will see Shannon spend 3 months at 3 different parks, starting out at one of our bigger parks, Ocean Edge, before moving on to Wemyss and concluding her programme at Eyemouth.

Shannon is currently working her ninth season at Parkdean Resorts, having joined Whitley Bay as a seasonal floor team member in 2014 while she studied Ancient History at Durham University. 8 years later and Shannon has worked in 10 parks across the business, including Whitley Bay, Sandy Bay, Ruda, Looe, Fallbarrow, Ty Mawr and White Cross Bay, each presenting a brand new experience where she has further expanded her holiday park knowledge and skillset.

When asked how she feels about being selected for ‘Be the Lead’ Shannon says,

“I’m buzzing to be given this opportunity and am super excited to get my teeth stuck into a new challenge. I believe the programme will give me the chance to put myself out there, step outside of my comfort zone and gain a deeper insight into the wider park operation. I’m really excited to spend time with a number of fantastic leaders in the business and learn about their individual styles as General Managers and how this drives their park’s business.”

My First Month in Bee the Lead

Wow, what a jam-packed few weeks it has been since starting the Bee the Lead programme. From pitch standards, snagging caravans and national gas shortages to creating and delivering training presentations, self-audits and Kahoot quizzes, my first few weeks here at Ocean Edge have been a great experience.

My biggest focus since joining the team here has understandably been recruitment, and we’ve been working on utilising job platforms like Indeed to receive over 100 applications for our current seasonal vacancies. I’ve also had the pleasure of organising a recruitment day where we were able to make offers to a number of exciting new candidates.

It’s really interesting to be doing things that I wouldn’t usually find myself doing and being able to apply my years of PDR experience to new scenarios. I’ve had the chance to get my teeth stuck into Kickstart which has been super insightful, attending fairs at the Job Centre to meet fresh faces and bring people on board. I’m excited to say that I believe we’ll have at least 3-4 Kickstarters join the team by March 2022!

My focus for the next few weeks is to spend as much time as I can with the Holiday Home Sales team, so I can gain a better understanding of this important side of the business. I’ll let you all know how it goes!
