Parkdean Resorts welcomed Home Office minister, Kevin Foster, MP, on a visit to Trecco Bay Holiday Park in Porthcawl this week. Parkdean was chosen for the visit as a major employer in the hospitality sector, which has taken advantage of the Government’s new Kickstart employment scheme, giving young people a unique opportunity to launch a new career within the hospitality industry.

After a challenging 18 months for the hospitality sector, Parkdean Resorts have been working towards helping local communities who are struggling with employment.

One of the biggest Kickstart schemes in the UK

As an official Kickstart employer and as one of the biggest Kickstart schemes in the UK, Parkdean Resorts will provide young people on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment with a 6-month work placement, alongside a fully approved training programme. The Government-funded scheme provides these young people with the skills to succeed in the hospitality industry, helping them move into sustained employment and giving them the chance for future progression at the company.

In addition to meeting young people who have benefitted from the Kickstart scheme and talking with employees at the park, Mr. Foster also took the opportunity to look around Trecco Bay Holiday Park, which has recently received a major makeover and a £3.6m cash injection as one of Parkdean's seven 'Parks of the Future'.
