While we have followed all necessary planning processes and procedures, we have decided to withdraw our appeal against the findings of the judicial review which resulted in the quashing of the planning permission granted for at Ruda Holiday Park in 2014.

Our relationship with the local community at Croyde is incredibly important to us, and we wholeheartedly agree with local groups about the importance of protecting the natural environment. Ruda benefits from its location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and we work hard to maintain the park and the beach for current and future generations.

Our planning application was always intended for the development of the small service field, which is less than 3% of the footprint of the current site, and not any other area. We appreciate that the planning permission granted by the Council in 2014 covers a broader area of land which is owned by other parties. That means it could lead to development by other parties which may be detrimental to the beauty of the area. Ruda Holiday Park has always been clear it will undertake not to develop on any sensitive areas, but clearly cannot ensure that others wouldn’t, and this is central to our decision to withdraw our appeal.

The team are looking forward to engaging with the local community to discuss our continued role in the village, our investment in the park to improve existing accommodation and facilities, and our plans to support the local community.
