Parkdean Resorts’ Trecco Bay holiday park has teamed up with Nation Radio for its annual Christmas Appeal to distribute toys to local children in hospital or hospices over the festive season.
Under normal circumstances, Nation Radio encourage locals to buy toys and send them to collection points in the local area, which would then get distributed to the children. However, with the station unable to do that this year due to contamination risks from COVID-19, the team at Trecco Bay have stepped in to provide a solution by donating thousands of pounds worth of unopened, unused toys to the cause.
This isn’t the first time the team at Trecco Bay have stepped in to support the local community. In May, during the first national lockdown, the park hosted a training day for frontline NHS workers, working with the Welsh Ambulance Service to provide training spaces for 48 volunteer responders and 12 instructors. In addition, with the park closed for the season, the Show Bar has been used by the NHS, as a socially distanced centre for Covid testing training.
In addition to the donation of toys from Trecco Bay, Nation Radio has also set up a Go Fund Me page, with the donations going towards purchasing more toys for the children directly.
