Visit Padstow

Surrounded by lush countryside and superb beaches, this characterful little fishing port has been popular with tourists for generations. But in recent years, Padstow’s popularity has surged, with celebrity chef Rick Stein transforming the town into a chic gastronomic destination.

Alongside the cosmopolitan seafood restaurants, hip cafes and patisseries, you’ll find more traditional shops serving pasties and fudge and an assortment of independent boutiques and chain stores. The fishing port’s historic character still shines through, however, with lots of colourful, cobbled lanes to explore. You can learn all about Padstow’s past at the popular local museum.

Down at the harbourside, you’ll encounter dozens of traditional fishing boats and pleasure craft, which offer angling tours, sea safaris and trips to the glitzy village of Rock. Alternatively, walk the South West Coast Path to visit the sandy coves nearby or hire a bike and head inland on the stunning Camel Cycle Trail.

Local residents like Malcolm also say there's some hidden gems in Padstow, "I would say if you're in Padstow if you drive five-six miles up towards Constantine Bay, there's a brilliant walk around Trevose Head, the lighthouse, Mother Ivey's Bay and then back around. A good three 3 hours walk and a stunning coast.”
