About Penzance

Pirates. Penzance is famous for them, particularly the singing kind. But this fishing port has so much more to offer.

Drift down Chapel Street, with its handsome Georgian architecture and you’ll discover a wide choice of quirky shops, historic pubs and an eccentric house that wouldn’t look out of place in ancient Egypt! Cornwall is packed full of historic sights to explore and Penzance is no exception.

Penzance is renowned for its artistic scene too, and there’s a good selection of galleries to explore. Top billing, though, goes to Penlee House Museum, with its permanent collection of paintings by Newlyn artists and archaeological treasures.

By the seafront there’s a Victorian promenade, a recently revamped saltwater lido and a busy harbour where you can hop on sea safaris and explore the coast – you might spy dolphins, seals and even minke whales!

Nearby some of Cornwall’s top attractions await, including St Michael’s Mount, a fairy-tale island castle, and golden beaches like Praa Sands.
