Visit St Austell

This large market town was once the epicentre of Cornwall’s clay mining industry. Today St Austell is a hub for holidaymakers and home to some of the county’s top attractions.

Afterwards, venture further into St Austell and you’ll find a wide choice of independent shops, bars, inns and restaurants amongst the many striking Victorian buildings.

The world-famous Eden Project is just minutes away from St Austell. Located in an old mining pit, the gigantic biomes here recreate some of the planet’s most spectacular ecosystems, including the South American rainforest and a Mediterranean vineyard.

For more natural wonders, head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, with its tranquil Italian garden, and Pinetum Park which features many exotic rarities. For seaside action, visit nearby Porthpean Beach.
