Discover Incredible Surfing at Croyde Bay

Croyde Bay Beach is widely regarded as one of the top surfing destinations in Devon, and indeed the UK! Just steps from Ruda Holiday Park, it’s a Mecca for amateur and professional surfers alike. With a fantastic beach and great facilities nearby including an on-park surf shop and plenty of surf schools in the area – it’s the ideal destination for a UK surfing holiday.

About Croyde Bay Beach

West-facing Croyde Beach is a wide and sandy bay, nestled between the popular resorts of Woolacombe and Saunton Sands. Backed by grassy dunes, this picturesque beach offers something for everyone, from picnics to paddling. However, it’s the beach’s headlands and orientation that channel in powerful waves from the Atlantic – attracting surfers from all over the UK and beyond.

Famous for its amazing barrel waves and shallow breaks at low tide, surfing should only be attempted by experienced surfers in these conditions. That being said, Croyde Bay also experiences plenty of calm days too, and varying conditions offer something for everyone - with all abilities catered to throughout the year.

Offshore Croyde Surf Shop

If you’re staying at Ruda Holiday Park, you’ll benefit from direct access to the Offshore surf shop – for all your surfing needs.

Stocking the most popular brands including O’Neill, Rip Curl, Quiksilver, Reef and many more, it’s the perfect place to stock up on surfing essentials with a wide variety of wetsuits, bodyboards, gear and accessories on sale.

You’ll also be able to hire equipment too if you fancy giving surfing a go or don’t fancy carrying your own from home. With two locations, one by reception on the park and one down by the beach (open during peak season), you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to kit – so there’s nothing stopping you hitting the waves!

Top tip: Don’t forget to check in with the friendly team in the Offshore who will be able to advise you on the latest surfing conditions. As with any surfing beach, conditions can change quickly and safety is always a priority so please pay attention to the lifeguards and advice of the team at Offshore.

Surfing Lessons

Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced pro trying to hone your skills, you’ll find a number of surfing schools in the area – offering lessons and tuition for all abilities.

If you’re a first timer, we recommend booking a surfing lesson to learn the basics before taking to the water – especially during wavy conditions. With lessons for groups, families and individuals it’s the perfect day out – and a great way to make new friends during your holiday.
