About Brightlingsea

If you’re looking for a softer more peaceful seaside experience, then the historic harbour town of Brightlingsea is the answer.

Outlined by colourful beach huts, its small Blue Flag beach is lapped by gentle waves that make it perfect for paddling. There’s a special saltwater pool too, so even the little ones can join in the fun. Nearby, you’ll find Brightlingsea’s freshwater lido with its 50m pool and children’s pool. Recently refurbished, it’s the ideal place to bask in the sunshine and enjoy long, lazy swims.

For something a little more strenuous, walk the town’s sea walls for epic vistas of nearby Mersea Island and the rare birdlife that inhabits the beautiful surrounding countryside. En route, don’t miss the quirky Bateman’s Tower, which is an excellent spot for crabbing.

Afterwards, unwind at the harbour which features lovely water views alongside a choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants.
