Visit Morpeth

A museum, inside a beautiful medieval chantry, stuffed full of bagpipes is just one of the many surprises you’ll discover hiding within Morpeth, a lovely historic market town.

Wander Morpeth’s flower-adorned streets and alongside a striking clock tower and elegant town hall, you’ll find some fine independents shops and popular high street brands. The Sanderson Arcade is a particularly sophisticated highlight, while the weekly Charter Market is the place to shop fresh, local produce.

There’s excellent dining in Morpeth too, everything from quaint tea rooms and traditional pubs to Asian-inspired restaurants.

Tucked up against the town’s riverfront lies Carlisle Park. Here you can splash about in rowing boats, play tennis or just relax on the meticulously manicured lawns. The William Turner Garden here feels lovely and secluded while the play park is certain to be a hit with the kids.
