School summer holiday dates 2024
The school summer holidays are all about sun, sea, and sand. Whether you’re planning an August bank holiday break or a longer summer escape - put these dates in your diary and start planning your next summer getaway today.
England & Wales school summer holiday dates
● Schools across England and Wales will break up on Friday 19th July - then return 6 weeks later, on Monday 2nd September.
Scotland summer holiday dates
● Schools in Scotland start their summer holiday break earlier, breaking up on Friday 28th June - then returning 6 weeks later, on Monday 12th August. Check out our Scottish summer holidays page to book your break.
Many schools start their new school year with one or more INSET days, so if you’re planning a late summer break, we recommend checking your local council or school’s websites.
Top tip: You could save on your summer holiday if you live in Scotland by taking a break in England or Wales during early July, before local schools have broken up. Or if you live in England or Wales, why not head to Scotland for a break in late summer to take advantage of great savings!
