Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s largest holiday park operator, is helping more people than ever to build their future within the business, with 150 apprenticeship places on offer this year.

Parkdean Resorts is an Ofsted-accredited employer, and one of only four Employer-Providers on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers. The company has committed to developing more than 150 of its people, new and established, on a Professional Development Programme by the end of June, with qualifications ranging from Level 2 to Level 5, the equivalent of a Foundation Degree.

The two programmes being offered are the Kitchen Academy, designed to develop new and existing chefs throughout the business, and the Leadership Academy, which seeks to identify and develop people within the business that want to grow their career within Parkdean Resorts through a programme of recognised qualifications.

Developing knowledge, skills, and behaviours

The Kitchen Academy programme, which ranges from Level 2 to Level 4 qualifications, will help chefs to apply highly methodical organisational skills, energy, accuracy, attention to detail and mindfulness to the importance of sustainability and care for the environment. The programme will also explore deeper into the dishes the company offers, including key nutrient groups, their function and sources along with the scope and methods of adapting dishes to meet specific dietary, religious and allergenic needs of guests.

Ranging from Level 3 to Level 5, the Leadership Academy is designed for Head of Departments on park, or any team member wishing to develop to become a Head of Department. This programme can be tailored to suit a leader of almost any on-park department and is aimed at providing and/or improving the knowledge, skills and behaviours to develop, manage and run a successful team and improve departmental results.

Since Parkdean Resorts became an accredited Employer-Provider in 2019, the company has completed a success rate of 100% in getting Apprentices to End Point Assessment, with 75% of these gaining a ‘Distinction’ grade.

If you've got the passion, we've got the training

Lisa Charles-Jones, HR Director, Parkdean Resorts, said: “Gaining an apprenticeship qualification is something that you should not only be proud of but also shout about. People think an apprenticeship is aimed at young people just starting out in the world of work, this couldn’t be further from the truth. You can study for an Apprenticeship Qualification at any age - the only barrier is your commitment and determination to succeed. Whatever your age, level of experience, or job role - if you've got the passion, we've got the training for you.”

Parkdean Resorts’ programmes have been designed to get the best out of people, and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours in their work role at whatever level they are working at. The progammes will also help to provide life skills such as English, Maths and Communication alongside a greater understanding of topics such as equality, diversity & inclusion, safeguarding and British values.
