Parkdean Resorts once again joined forces with Team Margot to raise money to support families caring for child cancer patients and encourage people to register as blood, organ, stem cell and bone marrow donors.
We asked our Parkdean colleagues to 'Go Pink' on Thursday 26th October to raise awareness for the cause. Approaching Halloween, we wanted to take the fear out of blood donations and emphasised that blood doesn’t have to be scary, it can save lives!
Team Margot was founded by the parents of a young girl, Margot, who had Leukaemia which caused her to require multiple blood transfusions and a stem cell (or bone marrow) transplant. Due to her mixed family heritage, it was more challenging to find her a 'perfect' tissue-type match because of the lack of diversity on the stem cell and bone marrow registers. Team Margot's mission is to increase donations of blood, organs, stem cells and bone marrow by educating, inspiring and motivating people to register as donors and to provide a range of support to families caring for child cancer patients.
The funds we raised will contribute towards supporting many families caring for child cancer patients by providing them £1,000 emergency grants. After Margot's parents experienced the struggles associated with having a sick child, they wanted to offer financial help to other parents in the same situation. The charity relies fully on help from generous donors.
A huge thank you to all our colleagues who wore pink, registered and donated to Team Margot.
