If you're planning a touring or camping holiday, we know that organising the perfect route can often be a challenge - particularly if you have little ones in tow that you'd like to keep entertained whilst enjoying some spectacular scenery.
Head to the sunny, golden shores of south west England on your next family break and you'll find two of the most popular hotspots for camping holidays - Devon and Cornwall. Renowned as some of the UK's best destinations for a staycation, camping holidays in Devon and Cornwall offer a wide array of sandy beaches and an abundance of great family days out. We've compiled a useful guide containing holiday park suggestions and ideas for things to do to help you plan your next touring or camping holiday with Parkdean Resorts.
Campsites in Cornwall
Your journey starts at Lizard Point Holiday Park, the first of our Cornwall camping sites on the itinerary, with five different pitch types to choose from. Sat by the edge of Mullion village in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the scenic coast here is known as the Lizard Peninsula, which has a whole host of stunning coastal trails and coves for you to explore. Lizard Point is one of our best parks when it comes to brand new activities and facilities, plus your entertainment passes are included when you book a touring or camping holiday with us.
The park is also a great starting point to head out for further adventures in the region - a trip to Land's End to visit the westernmost point of the British Isles is just a short drive away. You could also pay a visit to St. Michael's Mount, a small tidal island with stunning sea views, a castle and ancient myths to uncover.
Your next destination on the list is Newquay, and you can take your pick from either Holywell Bay or Newquay Holiday Park. They both offer a choice of different touring and camping pitches, plus easy access to the seaside - whether you're looking for a bustling beach or a serene bay to relax beside the ocean.
The region is filled with fun days out, with Newquay Zoo, the Screech Owl Sanctuary and the Blue Reef Aquarium nearby if you want to meet the local wildlife face to face! Newquay really is the ideal location if you're camping in Cornwall.
Campsites in Devon
Heading out of Cornwall and into Devon, the last stop on your route should be Ruda Holiday Park. Set beside the surfing paradise of Croyde Bay with some the country’s most popular beaches in walking distance, it's our only campsite in Devon and is well worth a visit with six different pitch types on offer. You'll also be just a short distance away from an abundance of fantastic local attractions including The BIG Sheep, Lundy Island and Exmoor Zoo.
The fantastic facilities on park ensure that Ruda remains one of our most popular locations for camping in Devon, offering plenty of exciting activities to keep the kids occupied, from the indoor swimming pool complete with water slide to our wildlife nature trail.
We hope we've given you some inspiration for your next touring and camping trip to Cornwall or Devon. To find out more information about pitches and what our specific campsites have to offer, simply head to one of our park pages and select the 'Touring and Camping' tab
