Visit Redruth

Once the affluent hub at the centre of Cornwall’s tin mining industry, Redruth is a market town steeped in history. As you explore dramatic Fore Street in Redruth’s centre, you’ll find independent shops, restaurants and cafes all interspersed among imposing and beautiful Victorian architecture.

There are modern sights here too, like a cinema, indoor soft play centres and tennis courts and playgrounds at the lush and lovely Victoria Park.

Redruth’s also famous for rugby, with the local club ranking as one of the most successful in Cornwall. Visit the historic ground on match days for high-energy drama.

Explore the surrounding countryside and you’ll find a host of landmarks chronicling the region’s mining past. East Pool Mine has two colossal steam-powered beam engines, Wheal Peevor has atmospheric 19th-century ruins, while a former mining complex has been transformed into beautiful gardens at Heartlands, which also has shops, art exhibitions and a huge outdoor play area.
