About Walton-on-the-Naze

In a region famous for its seaside towns, Walton-on-the-Naze still manages to stand out. It has all the classics: a soft-sand beach, shimmering arcades, fish ‘n’ chip shops and a vintage pier. But there are charming surprises too, like the Naze itself, a wide headland with towering red cliffs and a fossil-filled beach.

Search through the shingle along this ancient stretch of coast and you might uncover fossilised birds, plants and shark’s teeth. A mammoth’s tooth was even found here! Afterwards, take time to admire your newly discovered treasures with a coffee at the Naze Tower. This historic landmark is a gallery too and offers incredible scenery of the coast from the top.

Back in the resort, the traditional seaside sights beckon. Visit the pier, the second-longest in England, for quirky shops, sea angling and funfair rides or wander Walton-on-the-Naze’s narrow shopping streets for a choice of independent stores.
