Visit Ryde

For many, Ryde is the gateway to the Isle of Wight as they cruise into the busy port by ferry or the nifty, and uniquely fun, hovercraft. Like the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum, where you can hop onboard 20 vintage vehicles, and even sup tea in the historic Shanklin Steamer. If you’d rather be behind the wheel, visit Wight Karting. The 500m circuit here offers extreme racing thrills to anyone over the age of eight, making it the perfect place for fun family showdowns.

For extra adrenaline kicks, Goodleaf Tree Climbing offers the chance to ascend an ancient 70ft high oak tree – the views from the canopy are lovely.

Afterwards, head to Union Street for some top-notch bars and restaurants.
