From the stunning cliffs of Dorset to the Isle of Wight’s beautiful beaches, you don’t have to take to the skies for an unforgettable couple’s holiday. Whether you enjoy countryside strolls, thrilling watersports or historic attractions, Britain has so much to offer.
As part of our Best of Britain campaign, we’ve teamed up with three of the UK’s best-known travel bloggers, Wanderlust Chloe, Vicky Flip Flop Travels and xameliax, to unearth some of the greatest experiences for couples in the UK. Here are some of the amazing places they explored!
Dorset
Home to famous cliffs, natural landmarks and a rugged historic coastline, Dorset is one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations. If you’re a fan of a crime drama, then the county’s West Bay may seem very familiar. With its towering 140ft cliffs and picturesque views, this dramatic part of the coastline provided the backdrop for popular ITV series Broadchurch.
Two other iconic coastal landmarks in Dorset are Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. These natural formations create a seriously picturesque and romantic setting – perfect for a couple’s selfie.
Dorset is also home to an array of vineyards, including Langham Wine Estate. Take a tour through the grapevines, before sampling some of the award-winning wines.
No trip to the Jurassic Coast would be complete without spending time in the water. Jurassic Coast Activities provide a range of watersports, such as kayaking and paddle boarding – there really is something for everyone.
Isle of Wight
Just a short ferry ride away from the mainland, the Isle of Wight is the perfect place to visit for a romantic getaway. From scenic countryside to historic attractions, there’s so much to see and do on a holiday here.
If you’re a history-loving couple, Osborne House is a must-visit. The house is known as Queen Victoria’s ‘royal palace by the sea’, where she and Prince Albert often holidayed. Wander the exquisite interiors and take a romantic stroll through the gardens.
For a date-day with a difference, head to West Wight Alpacas to walk adorable alpacas and llamas together.
You can’t visit the Isle of Wight without seeing the famous Needles. Take a romantic ride on the Needles chairlift and enjoy breathtaking views.
Devon
With quaint villages, picturesque beaches and an array of cosy cafes and traditional pubs, Devon is the ideal place for a couple’s escape. Staying at one of our Devon holiday parks puts you within easy reach of fantastic days out.
Explore the colourful streets of Bideford, browse independent shops and galleries, or stroll along the riverfront before sampling fresh seafood. Head to Clovelly, a charming historic fishing village with cobbled streets that tumble down towards the harbour – perfect for a romantic photo.
If you’re near Torquay, spend an afternoon exploring the English Riviera coastline, famous for its palm trees and sandy beaches. Visit Torre Abbey or take a boat trip to Brixham.
For a touch of adventure, head to Dartmoor National Park and discover hidden tors and wild moorland – a beautiful backdrop for a couple’s walk. Then unwind in a local pub with a cream tea or cider.
