About Helston

One of Cornwall’s oldest towns, Helston is naturally rich with historic and characterful buildings. Its charming shopping streets are lined with lovely one-off shops and eateries, including a pub that’s over 500 years old! If that peaks your interest, you can explore the region’s past at Helston’s popular free museum, which features Bronze Age finds and Roman treasures alongside Victorian curios.

But there are contemporary adventures to be found here too. Visit Flambards Theme Park on Helston’s outskirts to experience white-knuckle rollercoaster rides and tot-friendly carousels, alongside some authentic recreations from Britain’s past.

A little further afield lies the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, a rehabilitation centre where you can get up-close views of these majestic animals. There are sea lions, otters and penguins to meet here too! Poldark Mine is the region’s other star attraction. It offers the chance to head underground and explore atmospheric 18th-century tunnels.

Local residents like Malcolm, also say that Philips Pasties in Helston is home to one of the best Cornish pasties money can buy, "Philips Pasties and one of the major brands I would go for”.
