About Polperro

As you stroll through the narrow, maze-like alleyways of Polperro, past the quaint mismatching cottages and rickety white-washed pubs, you can almost imagine the days when this historic fishing village was a favourite hangout for smugglers.

Today, it’s more frequently a home for artists, who sell a range of paintings, jewellery and handcrafted items in the galleries and shops scattered throughout Polperro’s winding and blissfully traffic-free streets.

Polperro’s unspoilt charm is only matched by its beautiful setting. Head down to the village’s characterful harbourside for ocean vistas and to visit a small yet lovely beach – which neighbours an old smuggling cave!

You can hike the South West Coast Path from here, a challenging route that takes in the coves, cliffs and headlands that make the Polperro Heritage Coast so special. Or, for a different perspective, hop on a pleasure cruise from the harbour.
