The Great North Run 2026
Taking place on 13th September, the Great North Run is one of the biggest sporting events to descend on the North East every year. The world's biggest half marathon celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021 and whether you’re joining the thousands of other runners crossing the start line or cheering them along from the side, you’re bound to have a fantastic day out.
Kicking off in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, runners will tackle the 13.1 mile course all the way through Gateshead towards the picturesque South Shields coast. For more information, you can visit the Great North Run website and start planning your day.
