About Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock’s grand Victorian streets offer some excellent shopping opportunities, with a choice of local independents and high street favourites, but it’s the outdoor areas here that truly shine.

The town boasts several lovely parks. Kay Park is home to Scotland’s biggest Robert Burns monument alongside a serene lake and picnic-perfect meadows. While Dean Castle and Country Park, stretches for over 200 acres, with sprawling woodlands, rivers, lagoons, ponds and a 14th-century castle. The little ones can meet farmyard animals and there’s an excellent play park too!

For history, visit the Dick Institute. The biggest museum and gallery in Ayrshire explores the region’s social heritage and natural history and has some engaging permanent art collections alongside temporary exhibits from well-known contemporary artists.

You might spot some famous faces at the Palace Theatre too, which regularly hosts popular live music events and comedy performances.
