With its turreted Victorian architecture, sparkling river and beautiful mountain backdrop, there’s something altogether magical about Pitlochry.
The hillside town lies at the centre of a natural wonderland. On one side sits the immense Ben Vrackie, on the other the giant trees of the Tay Forest Park, and beyond Loch Tummel and the mesmerising vistas found at Queen’s Point.
Of course, that’s just the beginning. There are diverse landscapes to uncover in every direction and adventures all around, including canoeing, golf, river rafting and mountain biking.
Back in Pitlochry, you’ll find some niche shops selling interesting gifts like handcrafted jewellery and tweed accessories, but it’s the town’s two whisky distilleries that lure many visitors here. Blair Athol and Edradour both have excellent reputations and long histories and they each offer tours and tastings.
Equally prestigious is Pitlochry’s Festival Theatre, which regularly attracts some of the country’s top talent.
