About Colwyn Bay

The award-winning sands at Colwyn Bay are certain to please any beach worshipper, they’re clean, soft and made for sandcastles. There’s a long promenade skirting the bay too, perfect for fish and chips with sea views and brisk and bracing strolls.

Yet it’s the watersports facilities here that offer the biggest seaside thrills, with the centre at Porth Eirias providing the chance to learn sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and even paddleboarding.

The town’s other big draw is the Welsh Mountain Zoo, which offers an up-close view of some of nature’s most spectacular species, including snow leopards, tigers, penguins and sea lions. The daily displays and demonstrations are not to be missed either.

After all that action, ease into a seat and take in a show at the fabulously vintage Theatr Colwyn. This multi-purpose theatre/cinema is one of Britain’s oldest and regularly features music performances, live screenings and talks alongside the latest cinematic releases.
