A Guide to Rhyl & Prestatyn
Nestled on the outskirts of Abergele, Ty Mawr Holiday Park is located on North Wales' bustling coastline, dotted with seaside towns and resorts - with Rhyl and Prestatyn just a short drive away across the River Clwyd.
Thanks to Towyn Beach on its doorstep, you don't have to venture far to get your toes in the sand. However, if you do venture out, nearby Pensarn Beach to the west and Kinmel Beach, Rhyl Beach and Prestatyn Beach to the east offer fabulous sandy shores. Both Rhyll and Prestatyn beaches feature miles of uninterrupted sand, ideal for paddling or swimming. Their long sweeping promenades are popular with walkers and cyclists in the summer season too.
It's not all sea and sand though, and you'll find plenty to do year-round in these resorts. Marine Lake in Rhyl is a great location for a walk and a bit of nature spotting; this man-made reservoir is the only saltwater lake in Wales and offers a mile-long walking path around its shores. The Pavillion Theatre on the seafront is ideal for a night out, where you can take in everything from West End productions to community theatre shows. In Prestatyn, the local arts centre and Scala Cinema are the perfect rainy day activity, while Gronant Dunes provides a habitat for nature and nature lovers - and is a popular spot for dog walkers.
Snowdonia National Park
In just under 20 minutes' drive from Ty Mawr, you'll reach the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Voted Europe's most beautiful national park, it's a must visit if you're on holiday. The park itself boasts some impressive features, claiming title to the biggest national park in Wales and home to Snowdon, Wales' highest mountain.
You'll find a plethora of adventure activities and attractions on offer in and around Snowdonia. If keeping active is your thing, Surf Snowdonia offers you the chance to try your hand at surfing amongst the mountains on its inland lagoon and giant wave machine. The national park is also famous for its extensive network of caves, and Go Below is the perfect place to explore them. Here you can zip line, boat, climb and jump though a maze of epic underground adventures while taking in the spectacular caves. Not forgetting, the park is also home to miles of walking, hiking and cycling trails - making it one of Britain's best adventure spots.
