About Clacton-on-Sea

If one thing has shaped Clacton-on-Sea, it’s the beach. This vast stretch of powdery sand has been luring holidaymakers since Victorian times and today it’s just as ideal for sandcastles, paddling and a deckchair snooze. Add in a thrilling pier, seafront amusements and two charming theatres and you have the perfect British seaside getaway.

Keeping the kids occupied is a doddle. There’s ten-pin bowling, crazy golf and arcade games aplenty and at the pier you’ll find a choice of thrilling retro rides, including waltzers and a roller coaster, alongside some gentle fairground rides for the tots. Afterwards, tuck into traditional favourites like fresh fish and chips and wispy candyfloss for the complete seaside experience.

Clacton is famous for its busy line-up of events and entertainment, with the airshow in August being a particular highlight. Throughout the year catch big-name acts, tribute shows and comedians performing at the West Cliff and Princes Theatres.
