On arrival the staff member was friendly and very helpful and the initial look and landscaping of the site was very pleasing. Following the map guide we had been given,we were a little disgruntled to find we could not park nearer to the caravan, given we were a party of four with two dogs in tow (and 2 members of our party use walking sticks) (Not so good on uneven ground). In the end we decided to just drive up onto grass and empty the car (NB we did move the car immediately after doing this). We found the caravan to be satisfactory but then discovered that we were short on mugs and in the complete absence of glasses. Good job we had packed our own mugs!
Given we had had a long drive we decided to try out the sites Fish and Chip shop, only to discover it was closed and being refurbished (despite previously receiving and email from yourselves inviting us to try your on site facilities including the Fish and Chip shop!)
The caravan was clean (only just) but was very basic and we found that there were only wine glasses (no tumblers or even plastic travel glasses) and only 2 mugs (good thing we packed our own!). Given the site was so quiet we did not even bother to check out the Showbar and Bingo (something we would like to have tried but discovered was held much to early for us (it was after all held when we would normally have our evening meal before venturing out).
Upon venturing out further afield we discovered Clacton itself was much to be desired, given that other than the Pier there wasn't much to do in the area (we concede this is clearly not the Parks fault).
In essence Essex and Clacton on Sea is not a destination we will be travelling to in the future. Such as shame as visits to other Park Resorts have resulted in much more enjoyable short breaks.
