On arrival our caravan had not been cleaned. We had to clean every plate, cup, knife and fork and all the work tops! Not a good start. However the caravan was lovely and had plenty of room for the four of us. This was our second visit to Sandy bay, no issues from the 1st time so we were disappointed. The site itself is perfect for us, not too busy, with a nice path down to the beach. The restaurant on site is ok though food is of an average pub chain standard. The chip shop though is a different matter, ran by 2 young boys that clearly don’t want to be there, also not very helpful, it’s supposed to open till 2300 but they like to close early and when we went in they refused to cook anything fresh even though it was only 2215. Also they use frozen chips! This is a disgrace as they are rubbish. Please take note park resorts as this seems to be a common theme now throughout all your sites. Proper chip shops do not use frozen chips, please sort it out. Newbiggin is a 2 minute drive away and had a fantastic beach which is looked after, there are also some local shops, takeaways and pubs. Asda is in ashington again a 5 minute drive and it’s 24 hours. You do need a car if your going here but everything is only a short drive. We like the site due to its location and will be returning.
