About Mevagissey

Small, historic and endearing, Mevagissey is one of Cornwall’s finest traditional harbour towns. As you wander its slender, maze-like streets, you’ll encounter everything from quaint tea rooms and pasty shops to an assortment of gift shops and galleries.

The centrepiece here is the harbour itself, an unusual twin design surrounded by colourful slate-roofed cottages and dramatic coastal scenery. The fish and chip shops, pubs and restaurants here serve up freshly caught seafood or, if you’d prefer, you can join a fishing trip and catch your own!

Of course, there are plenty of attractions to explore on dry land too. The picturesque port dates back to the 1300s, and you can uncover its rich past of boat building, pilchard fishing and smugglers at the popular Mevagissey Museum. While the Mevagissey Aquarium offers the chance to see local marine life up-close.

For more natural wonders, visit the splendid Lost Gardens of Heligan nearby.
