About Brixham

The sight of dozens of fishing boats bustling around Brixham’s picturesque harbour is something to behold. Overlooked by brightly painted cottages, it’s one of the busiest ports in Britain and home to a flourishing fish market.

Scattered around the harbour, you’ll find countless gift shops, cafes, pubs and naturally some superb seafood restaurants. The flamboyant centrepiece here is the Golden Hind, a full-size replica of Sir Francis Drake’s famous galleon, where the kids can take the wheel, walk the plank or head below deck to embark on a treasure hunt!

Just beyond the harbour lies Breakwater Beach, a small strip of pebble shore where you can appreciate grand views and vibrant sunsets from the comfort of a deckchair. You might spot seals swimming by too.

But that’s just a taster of the wildlife you’ll encounter here. Head to glorious Berry Head National Nature Reserve nearby to spot seabirds, dolphins and, if you’re lucky, whales!
