About Christchurch

Cradled between two rivers, the historic town of Christchurch is renowned for its genteel setting. Its delightful streets are home to a host of independent shops and restaurants while the leafy quayside is a great spot for a little R&R as you watch yachts and swans sail by.

For a flavour of the Christchurch of old, visit the Norman priory. Exquisite wood carvings, intricate stained glass windows and beautifully cut stonework, this grand church has so many jaw-dropping features that it's arguably one of the nation's finest places of worship. Nearby Christchurch Castle has fared less well over the years but it still packs plenty of atmosphere.

A short distance from Christchurch lie a score of glittering sandy beaches, from Avon Beach and Mudeford Quay in the east to Hengistbury Head in the south. With so many to choose from you'll find one that's perfect for you, just don't forget your bucket and spade!
