About Alnmouth

Small yet perfectly formed, Alnmouth charms with its multi-coloured cottages and seaside villas. Yet it’s the beach here that steals the show - it’s wide, fine and utterly gorgeous. Wander along the powdery shores for bracing walks or break out the bucket and spade for some traditional seaside fun.

Alnmouth was once a thriving trading port until a storm changed the course of the river and isolated the village’s harbour. Today it’s a popular resort, with its tearooms, inns and delis offering lots of distinctive local bites alongside traditional seaside favourites. There are gift shops and galleries too. Like the Old School Gallery which showcases a range of renowned and local artists.

Alnmouth is also popular with golfers. Nearby Foxton Hall is one of England’s oldest golf clubs, with its 18-hole parkland course providing terrific sea views alongside some tricky conditions.
