The endearing seaside town features one of the world’s highest-ranking championship links golf courses, Royal Dornoch. Flanked by powdery white sands, and offering panoramic vistas of the Dornoch Firth, it’s a breathtaking spot in which to play.

Of course, if the kids simply want to make sandcastles and paddle about, you can do that too! The beach here is beautifully unspoilt and stretches out for miles, so you’ll always find somewhere to call your own. If you’re lucky, you might even see seals!

Despite its small size, Dornoch has a rich and interesting history. Visit the Historylinks Museum to explore the town’s heritage or the sublime Dornoch Cathedral with its graceful architecture and beautiful stained glass windows.

For natural wonders, visit the Falls of Shin where salmon make remarkable leaps up a series of waterfalls.
