Visit Seahouses

One of Britain’s prime wildlife colonies lies off the shores of this characterful seaside town. The Farne Islands are home to over 150,000 seabirds, including puffins, razorbills and guillemots along with thousands of grey seals – at what is England’s biggest breeding colony.

For a front-row seat on this natural marvel, board a pleasure cruise from the town’s bustling working harbour. Many tours have a wildlife expert on board who’ll guide you through the various sights and you can often hop off and explore some of the islands. Just remember a hat as the terns tend to dive-bomb visitors!

Back on the mainland, explore Seahouses and discover quirky gift shops, a smokehouse and restaurants serving freshly caught fish straight from the harbour. And in the evenings, grab a pint at the lively and eccentric Olde Ship Inn.
